Jim Gill in Concert
Jan 14, 2009
Jim Gill is known as a musician and author, but he is also, by training, a child development specialist with a graduate degree from the Erikson Institute of Chicago. Because of his studies, his goal has always been to promote active play between adults and children with his music. Anyone who has ever seen one of Jim’s family concerts knows that rather than performing for the children and parents, Jim leads them to sing and play together.
Jim has released five recordings of his music play for children. His most recent, Jim Gill Sings Moving Rhymes for Modern Times, was described as “A 14-song soundtrack for children and their parents at play” by the Los Angeles Daily News. The CD was one of only two music recordings in the nation to receive a 2007 Notable Children’s Recording Award from the American Library Association (the same organization that names the Caldecott and Newberry Awards to books). Jim has also published two picture books, A Soup Opera and May There Always Be Sunshine. All of Jim’s work can be sampled a jimgill.com.
We look forward to the January 24 concert – a great way to spend a winter Saturday. The proceeds of the concert benefit the Nursery School Tuition Assistance Fund. To purchase tickets simply stop by the office or send in payment and a request for tickets pinned to your child’s backpack.
Saturday, January 24, 2009, 4:00 PM at First United. Tickets $12 in advance/$14 at the door. Call 708-848-4910.
